DTF Transfer Application Instructions

Get the best results from your Mitten Made Custom Designs DTF transfers by following the application instructions below.

Recommended Heat Press Settings

  • Temperature: 300–310°F
  • Press Time: 15 seconds
  • Pressure: Medium to firm pressure
  • Peel: Allow transfer to cool for 10–15 seconds, then peel slowly
  • Second Press: Press again for 5–10 seconds for added durability and a smooth finish

How to Apply Your DTF Transfer

1. Prepare Your Garment

Place your garment on a flat heat press surface and make sure it is free of wrinkles, moisture, and debris.

Pre-press the garment for approximately 3–5 seconds to remove excess moisture and wrinkles.

2. Position Your Transfer

Place the DTF transfer design-side down in your desired location.

Make sure the design is straight and positioned correctly before pressing.

3. Heat Press

Press the transfer at 300–310°F for approximately 15 seconds using medium to firm pressure.

For best results, we recommend using a professional heat press rather than a household iron.

4. Cool & Peel

After pressing, allow the transfer to cool for approximately 10–15 seconds.

Carefully peel the film away from the garment using a slow and steady motion.

If any part of the design does not release properly, lay the film back down and press again for a few additional seconds.

5. Final Press

Cover the finished transfer with parchment paper, a finishing sheet, or protective paper and press again for 5–10 seconds.

This second press helps improve durability, adhesion, and the overall finish of the transfer.

Washing & Care Instructions

To help your DTF design stay vibrant and long-lasting:

  • Wait at least 24 hours before washing
  • Turn garment inside out before washing
  • Wash in cold or warm water
  • Use a mild detergent
  • Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals
  • Tumble dry on low heat or hang dry
  • Do not iron directly over the printed design

Important Note

Every heat press may perform slightly differently. Temperature, pressure, garment material, and press accuracy can affect the final result.

We recommend performing a test press whenever possible, especially when working with unfamiliar fabrics or heat press equipment.
